The Board of Genetic Counselors was signed into law on May 21, 2024.

You can apply for South Carolina Licensure online or access paper applications online at https://llr.sc.gov/gen/.  If you have questions, you can contact Pam Dunkin (Board Executive) at Pam.DUNKIN@llr.sc.gov.

When will the regulations go into effect?

The regulations go into effect on May 1, 2025. Therefore the deadline to submit an application for genetic counselors currently working in the state is April 30, 2025. License renewal will be due April 30, 2027.
